Anna Adams Obituary

Anna F. Adams 1925 - 2012 Anna Francis Adams, 87, a resident of Vernon Green Nursing Home, passed away May 19, 2012, at Vernon Green Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family at her side. Anna was born on Jan. 14, 1925, in Springfield, Mass., daughter of Dorcas Shankland and John Lonsdale. Anna attended schools in Springfield, Mass., Brattleboro, Vt., and Claremont, N.H. She resided with her Aunt Cindy and Uncle Leon Leclaire after the passing of her mother and father. Eventually she moved to Marlboro, Vt., residing with her dear uncle, James Shankland, on his farm, and that is where she met her husband, Harry Adams. Anna loved caring for her home and family. She was a lover of animals, especially cats and dogs. She loved flower gardening at her home and had many beautiful flowers. She was an avid reader and loved to read her Bible faithfully on Sundays. Anna will be greatly missed by her loving family and all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Anna is survived by her son, Harry Adams, Jr., of Wilmington, Vt.; her daughters, Judith A, Scherlin of Vernon, Vt., and Nancy Adams-Waite and her husband, Richard, of Springfield, Mo.; five grandchildren, Brooke Burt of Brighton, Mo., Michael Scherlin of Hinsdale, N.H., Melissa Scherlin, Harry Adams III of Searsburg, Vt., and Heath Adams of Whitingham, Vt., and 11 great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry L. Adams, Sr., whom she married in Marlboro, Vt., on Aug. 13, 1946, and was married for 36 years. Mr. Adams passed away June 2, 1982. She was also predeceased by her sister Mildred Green of Danielson, Conn., her brother Paul Lonsdale of Southington, Conn., and two nephews, James Green. Jr. and Roger Green, both of Connecticut, and a cousin, Gertrude Branch of Florida. MEMORIAL NOTICE: At the request of the family, funeral services will be private. Anna will be interred next to her husband, Harry, in the family lot in Marlboro Center Cemetery. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Anna's name may be made to the Windham County Humane Society or to the charity of one's choice, c/o COVEY & ALLEN FUNERAL HOME P.O. Box 215, Wilmington, VT 05363.
