I will forever remember her as Mrs. Selden. She was my next door neighbor and the mother of a friend that time and distance has not taken away. She taught me to be excited in the creativity of everyday objects, to see beauty in all things and learn to cherish the moments when ordinary becomes extraordinary. I believe that her gift to me was letting me naturally hone my creativity and not forcing any particular outcome. We were blessed as children to have wonderful mentors in our neighborhood. It was a formative time in our lives and it mothers like Mrs. Selden that made me into the unique person I am today. I hope that she knew how grateful and thankful I was to be able to walk into her house, sit at the kitchen table and know that I was truly welcomed.
Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.
