Andrew Wells Obituary

Andrew Christopher Wells completed his time on Earth Friday, July 22, 2011, five days short of his 37th birthday. His broken body finally overcame his strong will and quit. He is now with his Lord.
Andy was born in Fairbanks July 27, 1974. He attended University Park and Pearl Creek Elementary schools, Ryan Middle School and West Valley High School. He was active in his church, loved playing soccer, ran and skied cross country.
After high school, he worked odd jobs (gold mining, fair salesman, etc.) before landing at Assets Inc. in Anchorage, working at Providence Hospital and in their printshop. He became active with the Baptist Student Union at the University of Alaska Anchorage and with Ultimate Frisbee. He was busy outdoors, always headed into the mountains - the Chugach, the Kenai, Hatcher Pass or back to Fairbanks.
Returning from Flat Top in September 1995, he rolled his truck on Upper DeArmoun in Anchorage. He broke his back, resulting in paralysis. His trekking days were over but he continued, training in the Charter College AutoCAD program and working as a drafter for ASCG for a number of years, learning to drive with his hands and taking up Frisbee golf.
In 1996, he met Erin Searcy Dudgeon, the love of his life, and they married in 2000. Andy relished in the adventures of his new family, helping run sound for Erin's musical ventures and keeping up with his stepson Josh. He was developing his video editing skills, documenting performances of Erin's groups, including school performances in Girdwood, 3 Barons Renaissance Fair and her performances with the local group the Rogues and Wenches.
Andy is survived by his wife Erin Wells; stepson Josh Dudgeon and wife Affton; grandchildren Tait and Selah; parents Denmer (Dan) and Linda Wells; brother Denny Wells and wife Lisa, nieces Dessa and Linnea; father-in-law, the Rev. Doyle Searcy; scores of cousins and countless friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m., today, Friday, July 29, at Hillside Baptist Church in Anchorage.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at Alaska USA credit union.

Andy, no one suffered on this earth more than you did, but you were always strong and determined to get thru each new trial, and you never complained. My dear friend, you can now be at peace with your Lord. The world has lost a brilliant, loving and caring man. I guess heaven needed you more than we did. Peace to your family and friends.
