Alvin Kiehl Obituary

Alvin Edward Kiehl, 75, a 12-year resident of Burr Ridge and former LaGrange resident for many years, passed away April 21, 2008 at Hinsdale Hospital. Alvin was born July 29, 1932 in Chicago, IL. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Before retiring, Alvin was the owner/operator of "The Yardstick Shop" (a custom fabric & upholstery store) for over 40 years. He enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and his Lake Geneva home. He was a huge Cubs fan. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Services Thursday, April 24, 2008, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside. Alvin is survived by his wife Mary Jane nee Fennessey; children, Kathleen (Thomas) Dall'Osto of Rockford, IL, Michael (fiancee Vicki Brackin) of Chicago, IL and Kevin (Monica) of Western Springs, IL; former daughter-in-law, Lynn Kiehl; Siblings, Juaine (Bill) Broadbent of Downers Grove, IL and Richard (Pat) Kiehl of Crystal Lake, IL; many nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by siblings, the late Verla (late Fred) Regnery and the late Lorrell "Peg" (late Bill) Thompson. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Inspiration Ministries, P.O.
