Curtis was born in Deloit, Iowa, and received his education in the Deloit Community School, graduating from the Deloit High School with the class of 1939. After completing his education he worked for Leader's Apiary as a beekeeper in Deloit, until entering the United States Army in November of 1942.
On December 17, 1943, Curtis and Laura Mae were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. The couple observed their 65th wedding aniversary this past December. In September 1944, his unit was deployed to France with the 102nd Division Infantry. It was during his service time that Curtis was baptized and confirmed by Chaplain Coiner. In March of 1946, he received his honorable discharge and returned to Deloit and worked at Leader's Apiary for several years. Beginning in 1954, he worked at the Montgomery Ward Store in Denison until it closed, after working there twenty-two years, and then Anderson Clothing Store in Denison for eight years, retiring in 1986.
Curtis enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing, vegetable gardening, watching sporting events on television, but most of all he enjoyed attending sporting events for his children and later his grandchildren. At Deloit's 150th anniversary celebration he received a plaque from the City of Deloit in honor of being the oldest continuous living resident, having lived there his entire life. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, their Fellowship Club, and served as a financial teller for many years. He was also a member of various camping clubs and the Denison Golden K's.

With deepest sympathy I send my sincere condolences to all the Cose family and friends. Through my genealogy research I have learned of the Cose name. My aunt and uncle was Jesse and Floyd Leaders of Deloit. My grandparents were Joe and Della Brogden of Deloit and Denison. My mother was Virgene Eloise Brogden who married my father Ray Ransom. I am Janet Ransom Knoedler. Quite by chance I opened up the Bulletin Review of Denison today.
Sincerely,
Janet Knoedler
