My brother Steve expressed my mother's feelings very well. My mother, Helen Verderber, and Alice shared a very special connection through the years. They were always very close, but spoke almost on a daily basis in more recent years. They shared stories about their children and grandchildren, and growing older. They laughed a lot, always. My mom's funniest stories had Alice in them. We send our deepest sympathy to your family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We are so sorry to hear that Alice has passed. But we know she is at peace.
ever since we moved to Evergreen street more then 30 years ago we have been friends with and loved Mrs. Haley. My Children have loved her and now my grandchildren love. My grandson was so sad to hear of her passing. I was always so happy to look across the street and see her beautiful flowers. Marian and David you have our sympathy, but you must know that she is in peace without pain.

We will always remember our cousin Alice's wonderful, contagious laugh, and great sense of humor. She was such a favorite cousin of Hugh (Tom's Dad) and we all knew why! What a blessing to have had her on earth. God Bless. Love, FLO and TOM Beggs

This is very sad news to learn that our dear friend Alice has passed. My mother, Helen Verderber (maiden name Musso) and she remained best girlfriends all though the years, going back to 1942. They met while both were working as office pool secretaries at the accounting firm W.A. Alexander, located at 134 South LaSalle in the heart of the loop. My mom was 18 and Alice was 20. They hit it off immediately and became the closest of friends. This was during the height of WWII and they shared many (often hilarious) war-related, work, and personal stories about events throughout their lives across nearly sixty-eight years of friendship, as each married, had children, later, grandchildren. They lived for these many years in different parts of the metro area: Alice was from Downers Grove and resided in Elmhurst while my mother was born and raised in the Near West Side Garfield Park neighborhood and she has resided in Skokie since the early 1950s. Yet they kept in regular contact. Alice will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know this warm, upbeat, most positive person. My mother and she continued to speak on the phone frequently--often once per week though all the years. My mom is indeed saddened by her passing. Best fiends like Alice are irreplaceable.

Boy did I love this woman! She was the dearest person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I have so many very fond memories of her, I can still see her in the kitchen making egg noodles and tomatoes with LOTS OF BUTTER, or in her garden with all her beautiful flowers and it brings a smile to my face! She was terrific! I hope she finds peace and most of all she will reunited with her beloved Frank, Aunt Farn :) and of course good ole Mrs. Brown! Love to the entire family, and Mar, you know if you need anything I am just a phone call away! God Bless, Lisa Lippmann and Family
