Al Rouffa was a colleague and a fellow prairie lover. He lovingly took care of UIC's James Woodworth Prairie from 1968 to 1999. He passed the torch to me. We became good friends and I enjoyed his wit and giving him a chance to visit the prairie he loved. I am sad to lose a friend, but I know he lived a long, good life.
