ADELINA (ADEL) ABAYA (1952-2007) Beloved wife of Rey Abaya, doting mother of Hamlet, Voltaire, and Lara, creative sister-in-law of Meding, Libby, Cora, Reggie, and Chris, generous aunt of Ross, Wilma, Jessica, Alex, Gracielyn, Sydale, Nina, Jason, Anna and John Paul, Adel passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2007. Adel was born in Caloocan City, in Metro Manila, Philippines on February 2, 1952. She has two older brothers, Manuel and Francis Go, three nieces, Jennifer, Frances, and Michelle, and a sister-in-law, Bing. She was preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Rita Go. A Sociology major, Adel graduated from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila, where she taught Sociology as her first job. She then took advanced studies in Sociology at the Louvain University of Belgium after which she went back to UST to manage the Social Research Center of UST. Following her husband to Jakarta, Indonesia, she spent 15 years working as Technical Consultant at the Social Research Center of the Catholic University in Jakarta. After spending 18 years in Indonesia, Adel moved with her family to Hayward, California where she worked for Northwest Administrators (NWA) and then for United Parcel Services (UPS). Adel will be missed by her family and dear friends at NWA and UPS and by all her other friends scattered all over the world. Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Friday, September 7, 4-8:30 pm at Holy Angels Funeral & Cremation Center, 1051 Harder Rd., Hayward, with a Vigil starting at 6:30 pm. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, September 8 at 1:00 pm at Holy Angels Funeral Center.
