William "Bill" Myers Cheak

KINGSPORT - William "Bill" Myers Cheak, 85, of
Kingsport, TN and formerly of
Rose Hill, VA, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
Bill was born on April 6, 1940 in a two-room house near the school in Hagan, VA. He went on to graduate from Flatwoods High School. His working years were spent building houses, working in a steel processing plant and printing at McCall's. He retired from Arcadia Graphics (Kingsport Press) as a journeyman pressman. He was also a farmer.
In addition to his parents, John Bae Cheak and Hazel Bruner Cheak, Bill was preceded in death by by his daughters, Deanna Franklin and Carol Lee, grandson, Keith Franklin, a brother, Marvin Cheak, and by two sisters, Reba Sue Cheak and Johnnie Ann Combs.
Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Andrea Cheak; two sons, Billy (Debbie) Cheak, of Norfolk, VA, and Matt (Teresa) Cheak, of Elizabethton, TN; grandchildren, Michael Lee, Scott (Jenni) Lee, Ginny Lee Overbay, Kaitlyn Franklin, Emily (Randal) Andrews, William Cheak III and his sister, Stephanie; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Gene Cheak; two sisters, Maryetta Hendrix and Rebecca Coleman; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill enjoyed several hobbies. He was an amateur radio operator (WD4OQY), loved model railroading, woodworking, photography and genealogy. He most enjoyed the time he spent on the road, traveling the entire United States with Charlie Waller and the Country Gentlemen Band.
Bill was a member of the Vermont United Methodist Church. He was also a charter member of the Martins Station Chapter of the Virginia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. He really enjoyed learning about his Revolutionary War Patriot ancestors: John Hounshell, Jacob Bruner, Daniel Jones, William Brotherton and Balthogar Everheart.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, at Robinette Funeral Home in Rose Hill. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow in the Isaiah Wilson Cemetery, located on Wash Fee Mill Road in
Rose Hill, VA. A time of fellowship will follow the graveside at Flatwoods United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Coleman, Rex Carter, Joe Smiddy and members of the Martin's Station Chapter of the VSSAR.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be sent to the Patient Access Network Foundation, P.O. Box 411439, Boston, MA, 02241. Blood donations may also be given at your local blood bank, in his memory, as they are always welcomed and needed.
