Marilyn Elizabeth Burggraff

Marilyn Elizabeth Burggraff was born Tuesday, July 5, 1955 in Flandreau, SD to Henry and Dolores (Penning) Burggraff. She was the eldest of eight children, growing up in Egan, SD. She graduated from Egan High School in 1973 and went on to attend Dakota State and Black Hills State College in South Dakota receiving her Bachelor's of Education. She married Kalvin Mead on August 2, 1980. Three children were raised from this union of 45 years. Marilyn was an educator for 37 years, with most of those years served within the Wood River School District.

Marilyn was an incredible and dedicated friend, sister, daughter, mother and wife. Everything she set out to do was accomplished with the same thought, precision, planning and execution. She was our cornerstone, our heart, our guide. For these and countless other reasons, we will all miss her dearly.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Dolores and Henry Burggraff.
