Ronald Lammert Obituary

After a harrowing battle with Alzheimer's, Ron Lammert has passed away. He was born in Houston, Texas and grew up in nearby town Katy.
Ron worked as a reporter at the San Antonio Light and went on to found Lammert Publications, producing newspapers, magazines, and maps. His passion for storytelling and history led to creating Historical Publishing Network, publishing books that celebrated the history and culture of communities across the country.
A descendant of the Slavic group the Wends, Ron's writings on Wendish culture are frequently cited by researchers. He was a devoted member of Concordia Lutheran Church. He held a pilot's license and loved flying, as well as deer hunting and fishing. Ron was happiest when he was supporting others, especially his family and community.
Ron made Helotes his home for decades and is survived by his wife, Glenda Lammert, his sister, his three daughters and two grandchildren.

I grew up in Katy (two years younger) than Ronald. My older sister, Janet, was a classmate of his. His father, Theodore, taught history and government for many years at Katy High School, In fact, he taught my older brother, who graduated in 1956, my older sister, 1964, and me, 1966. RIP Ron

Ron & Glenda were a delightful couple, with whom I worked as a contributor to his early newspaper. I wrote about recipes and food trends in the late 70's. His death brings sadness to all who enjoyed his laugh and hard work.

I knew Ron for many years from my banking career. He took pride with his publishing but often spoke of his family and his love of flying and hunting. I seem to recall he played a little football as well. Its been years since I had spoken with Ron but I am sad hearing of his passing. God bless his family and friends.
