Janesville, WI - Barbara A. Zimmerman (Howard) passed away peacefully with her children by her side on January 22, 2026. She was born on April 9, 1944, in
Janesville, Wisconsin. She attended St. Patrick's School and Janesville High School, graduating in 1962.
Barbara married Bernard Zimmerman at St. Patrick's Church in Janesville, and they were married for 52 years before his passing in 2018. She worked at Henning Funeral Home and later retired from Lab Safety Supply after many years of dedicated service.
Above all else, Barbara was a devoted wife, a loving mother of four, a proud grandmother of six, and a cherished great-grandmother of three. She is survived by her children David, Steve (Krissy), Jay, and Amy Pease (Jim); her grandchildren Allison (Kevin), Alex (Taylor), Sierra, Dylan, Cooper, and Macey; and her great-grandchildren Jack, Emerson, and Layke. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Moreland; her brother, Greg Howard; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friends Judy and Donna.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Phyllis Howard; her beloved husband, Bernard; her brothers, Bob and Steve; and many aunts and uncles whom she loved dearly. Barbara was a deeply caring woman whose life centered around her family. She treasured time spent playing cards, creating arts and crafts, fishing at the lake, and gathering with those she loved. She delighted in cooking and baking for family and friends-especially making candy, which was her specialty and a signature gift. The kitchen table was the heart of her home, where meals, card games, laughter, and life advice were always shared. She found her greatest joy in family gatherings and celebrating Christmas.
The family is deeply grateful to Heather from BrightStar for helping keep Barbara comfortably at home, and to the compassionate team at Agrace Hospice-especially Jill, Jennica, Baily, and Katie-for their care and support.
Barbara will be remembered for her practical wisdom, warm heart, homemade sweets, her devoted care of her husband Beezie for 20 years, and the lasting memories she created with family and friends.
