Karen Guffey

June 28, 1941 - January 26, 2026

Karen Ann Guffey, 84, of Eldridge, passed away surrounded by her loving family at home on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2026 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Compassus Hospice and Visiting Angels.

Karen was born on June 28, 1941 in Bloomfield, Iowa, daughter of Glen and Era Fay (White) Henderson. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Leibold on August 27, 1960. He preceded her in death on November 8, 1964. She later was united in marriage to Gordon Guffey on February 11, 1966. Together they shared 59 wonderful years together.

Karen loved to have fun and especially enjoyed dressing up on Halloween and going "spooking". She was fond of homemade gifts, especially quilts. She also enjoyed watching Minnie Pearl and the Grand Ol' Opry. Over the years her arms held many babies that she adored and gave many head scratches to her four legged friend Bo Jangles. Above all else she loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and cherished the time she spent with them. She will be deeply missed.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Gordon; children, Stephen (D'Dree) Leibold, Lisa Leibold, LeAnn Leibold, Travis (Jeannine) Leibold, Darrin (Jill) Guffey and Jason Guffey; grandchildren, Morgan, Alec, Jamey, Ashley, Allyson, Josh, Taylor, Griffin, Rachel, Ben, Jackson, Clayton, Canon and Kinsey; 10 great-grandchildren; and her forever best friend, Colleen "Cobbie" Cooksey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Harold "Cotton" Henderson, Harvey Henderson, Normalee Calvert, Martha Parchert and Dean Henderson.

The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice and the Visiting Angels for their love and support.
