Yvonne Collins, born Monday, June 1, 1936, passed away at her residence Sunday, January 25, 2026. Yvonne was the daughter of the late McKinley "Mack" and Alta Mae Frazier Collins. She was the widow of Hazzell Collins and James Lowell Wright. The precious mother of 2 daughters: Connie Wright (Keith Tolliver) and Renee (Wayne) Sexton. The grandmother of 2 very special grandsons: Darrick Sexton and Eric (Tara-fiance) Sexton all living at
Isom, Ky. She also had another grandbaby who went on to be with the Lord before birth.
She was raised in a large family having nine siblings: Lee, Ellene, McKinley Jr. "Samp", Randall Dow "Dock", Wilma Jean "Sis", Bob, Eddie Ray "Edd", Jim and Herb all of which preceded her in death.
Yvonne worked most of her life. She started out as a very young woman working in restaurants. She was a waitress, cashier, factory worker, sales woman, cook and a "granny". She retired from the Letcher County Board of Education after 33 years of service. She was retired for a year when she decided to return to work for the Save the Children Program as a classroom granny. She helped children with reading and math. After 18 years of service with the program and being 83 years old, she was unable to continue working due to serious health issues.
She was a member of the Little Colly Baptist Church since May 1995. She also loved visiting Little Colly Pentecostal Church.
She enjoyed going to church when she could, listening to gospel singing, spending time with her family, telling stories about her childhood, playing solitaire and doing word find puzzles.
Yvonne has a very special sister-in-law: Helen Collins who was more like a sister along with her immediate family, a host of nieces and nephews and friends that will mourn her passing.
Funeral: 12:00 O'clock Noon Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Buford Combs, Tim Allen and Bennie Pugh officiating. Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Friday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Babe Ison Cemetery at
Isom, Kentucky.
