Walter Keith Lacie, age 73, a devoted family man, farmer, and Christian of Lockesburg, died Friday, January 23, in his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Lacie was born on September 13, 1952, in
Westville, Oklahoma, to A.T. "Bud" Lacie and Loy Belle Elmore. He was one of eight children, and he and his three brothers and four sisters grew up singing in church and hunting the hills of Adair County.
Keith was a man of many talents. He began his career as a carpenter alongside his brother-in-law, Leroy Franklin. He later worked many years in production for Baldor Electric before moving to Tyson Foods. It was at Tyson that he met the love of his life, Deb Roark.
Keith's life was filled with joy by his two children. He was a dedicated father who loved coaching youth sports. When he met Deb, she matched his passion for adventure. Together, they traveled extensively, hunting in New Zealand, Colorado, Alaska, and Canada. However, one of their most special places to hunt remained close to home at Fannie's place in Stilwell.
Together they moved to Arkansas and bought their first chicken farm. Farming was what Keith truly loved, allowing him to work the land alongside his wife, son Mark and grandson Cole. He was also a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Lockesburg, where he loved serving his church family by cooking fish and smoking meat for gatherings.
Above all, Keith loved gathering his people together. One of his most cherished events was the annual family campout. He looked forward to being at the lake with all his family and reminiscing about days gone by. True to his nature, he kept everyone right in line, supervising everything from set up to take down.
Mr. Lacie was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Deb Roark; his brothers, Wayne and Jim Lacie; and his sisters, Janet Franklin and Leora Whitecrow.
Mr. Lacie leaves behind his most cherished legacy: his daughter, Kerri Jones and her husband David of Hulbert, Oklahoma; and his son, Mark Lacie of Lockesburg.
He was the proud grandfather to Cole Wilkie and his girlfriend Gabbi Litchford, Chelsea Jones, Ryan Jones, Austin Jones, Luke Lacie, and McKenna Lacie; and great-grandfather to Paiyzlea Jones and Lyle Jones.
He also leaves to cherish his memory his two sisters, Bertha Alsenay of Cookson, Oklahoma, and Pauline Brown and her husband Jimmy of Westville; and one brother, Rod Lacie and his wife Carol of Verdigris, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his 11 nieces and 7 nephews, as well as a host of friends and neighbors that will cherish his memory forever.
Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Clay, Wesley Whiteley, Beau Crittenden, Daniel Stillwell, Mark Lacie, Cole Wilkie, and Luke Lacie.
