Tommy Swan was born on October 10, 1940 in Thorpe, West Virginia, where he spent his early years and laid the foundation for a life built on hard work, responsibility, and devotion to family.

Tommy was a proud graduate of Gary District High School class of 1957. He began his working life in the coal mines of West Virginia before relocating to Columbus, Ohio in the early 1960s where he would continue building both his career and his family. Tommy transitioned to construction work, eventually becoming a skilled concrete finisher. He worked with commercial builders and remained active in the field until the early 1990s. Tommy took pride in earning an honest living and providing for those he loved.

He was married to the love of his life, Delores "Dee" Swan, in 1984. Together they built a life centered on commitment, loyalty, and family. Tommy was a devoted father to his sons Tommy Jr. (Duke), Herman, Darnell, Paul, P.J., and Tyreek; and his daughters, Schenetta, Tonya Jo, Sonia and Nina. He was especially proud to be a grandfather to Joseph, Stacy (Dee), Brandon, Taylor, Isaac and Katherine, and a great-grandfather to Romello and Anthony.

Tommy also shared a special bond with several children who held an important place in his heart: Kelina, Kassidy, JaiLeah, JJ, JayMarr, JaiLei, and Riyan. He believed deeply in stepping up, being present, and caring for family in every sense of the word. Many knew Tommy as more than a father-he was a "daddy" figure whose guidance, protection, and love extended beyond biology.

He is survived by his brothers John, Richard (Anita), Adrian (Carmen), and Lorenzo, sister Willogean, and by numerous nieces and nephews whom he cared for deeply.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents John Sr. and Rennetta; siblings, Mary Jacqueline, Penelopia and Theodore; children, Tonya Jo, Herman and Sonia.

In his later years, Tommy grew especially strong in his faith and love for God. He spoke openly of being at peace and ready when his time came. His life reflected his beliefs: take responsibility, work hard, love your family, and choose a partner who values the same.

Tommy Swan will be remembered for his strength, his dedication to family, his steady work ethic, tell it like it is approach and his deep love for those he called his own. Of his 6 siblings, Tommy's demeanor was most like his daddy's: calm and laid-back. His legacy lives on through the many lives he shaped, supported, and loved.
