Tammy Potts Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hinchliff-Pearson-West, Inc., Abingdon on Jan. 29, 2026.
Mrs. Tammy L. Potts, 62, of Abingdon, Illinois, died at 10:55 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 21, 1963, in Carthage, Illinois, to Leon and Janet Hope (Huls) Glisan. Tammy married Richard Potts on December 1, 1979, in Abingdon. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2020, after 40 years of marriage.

Survivors include her mother, Jan Hoffman of Carthage; four sons, Jeremy (and Katrina) Potts of Grand River, Iowa, Jacob Potts (and Richard Velasco) of Gainesville, Florida, Joshua Potts of Carthage, and Jason Potts of St. Augustine, Illinois; two daughters, Jennifer (and Chris) Kelly of Augusta, Illinois, and Jessica (and T.J.) Neill of Keokuk, Iowa; one brother, Tim Glisan of Macomb, Illinois; one sister, Teresa (and Travis) Smith of Carthage; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Glisan; her stepfather, Leroy Hoffman; a brother, Terry Glisan; an infant sister, Lisa Jane Glisan; and her husband, Richard Potts.

Tammy was a devoted stay-at-home mother who lovingly raised her six children and cared for her husband. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, and listening to music. Her household was always spirited, as she was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan while her husband cheered for the Chicago Bears. Tammy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

As per Tammy's wishes, cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service, Abingdon Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.h-p-w.com.
