On January 24th at the age of 44, Sara Marie Brandenburg, devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed from this earth surrounded by the love of her life Micheal, her sister Debra and lifelong friend Wendy.

Sara grew up in Longview, graduated from Hallsville High in 2000 and Kilgore Jr College Nursing program in 2004 with her associate RN. Being a nurse came natural to her. Sara was kind and compassionate not only just in her profession but in her personal life as well. One of her greatest acts of love was being able to

care for her mother during her final days and later caring for her Father. Her devotion to others was unmatched. She had the heart of a nurse many only dreamed of having. She showed compassion and love to everyone. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Gwindelyn Brandenburg and Ova Curtis

Brandenburg.

Sara is survived by her devoted boyfriend, Michael Medina; her loving sister, Debra Brandenburg Russ; her brother-in-law, Joseph Russ, her cherished fur babies. Coco, Charlie and Madie Jo and an army of friends who loved her unconditionally. At the age of 34 Sara started a 11-year battle with cancer. She faced this head on. Her battle was marked by strength, resilience, and remarkable grace. She traveled back and forth to MD Anderson supported every step of the way by her family and friends. Through it all, Sara remained grounded in her faith. She faced each day with courage, determination, and hope-even during the times with great pain.

Sara will be remembered for her kindness, her giving heart, her strength in adversity, and the love she freely shared with those around her. Her spirit touched many lives, and her legacy of compassion will live on in all who knew her.

Rest in peace, Sara. Fly high --your wings are earned.
