Ronald Fuselier Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home - Kinder on Jan. 28, 2026.
Ronald Luke Fuselier of Elton, Louisiana was born on January 2, 1942, to Percy & Mildred Fuselier peacefully passing away on January 27, 2026, surrounded by family.
An alumnus of Elton High School Class of 1959, he attended McNeese State University earning his degree in education. It was during this time; Ronnie met the love of his life, Brenda, through a blind date. They married on September 5, 1964, and built a life full of faith and happiness for 61 years while raising 4 sons.
Professionally Ronnie served in ROTC, United States Army & National Guard, retiring as Colonel after a combined 28 1/2 years of service. While in military service, he supported his family by teaching social studies and coaching junior high athletics at Elton High School for 14 years, also serving as an assistant coach & scout for the 1970 State Championship football team. Upon his father's retirement as a bulk fuel distributor, Ronnie took over the family business at Fuselier Canal for 31 years serving the farmers of his community.
Ronnie was a lifelong parishioner of St. Paul Catholic Church in Elton where he served many years as Eucharistic Minister, CCD & RCIA instructor, Sons of St. Paul member and involved in countless church philanthropy events. He was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus. In his sons' youth, he was key in starting Elton Little League, a commentator & videographer for Elton High football games & a long-standing member of Elton Athletic Association. Ronnie loved people. Never meeting a stranger, his first question to anyone he met was, "Who's your people?" in order, to make connections to establish familial relation or friendship. His love for music and dancing with his wife made him a regular patron of The Lakeshore Club in his younger years and Roxy's or The Mikko Center in the latter. He was a fan of all sports, but especially enjoyed watching his Saints, Packers, Red Sox and Celtics teams. Most notably of his favorite things in life, ice cream and chocolate top the list never missing an opportunity to indulge in both.
Of his many accomplishments, his family was by far his proudest achievement in life.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Brenda Daigle Fuselier; four sons: Chris Fuselier, Peter Fuselier, Mark (Natalie) Fuselier, and Bret (Nina) Fuselier; one sister: Dolores Fuselier Reina; one brother, Rickey (Cheryl Lynn) Fuselier; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, Percy Fuselier & Mildred Darbonne Fuselier.
Family will receive friends Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m., with a Vigil & Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m., in the Reed Chapel at Riley Smith & Sons, 315 N 14th Street, Kinder, Louisiana. Visitation will resume on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1100 St. Mary Street, Elton, Louisiana. Father Marshall Boulet will be officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Elton, Louisiana.
The Fuselier family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Kinder Retirement and Rehab Center for the special love, care, and attention to Ronnie.

To Mrs. Ronnie Fuselier & Family,
I pray the Lord continues to Comfort you All & give you His Peace during this time and going forward.

Mr Ronnie was sooo kind to me when I first moved to Elton, from Chicago, as a sophomore back in 1977. He was such an Encouraging & Compassionate person; not to mention, an Excellent Social Studies Teacher, that gave great care and attention to All of us in class!
Mr Ronnie would tell the most interesting stories to try to help us better understand the world around us, as well as, the importance of being kind to others. Mr Ronnie was, without a doubt, an "Inspiring, Life-Changing Educator," that helped his students feel Valued; no matter who they were, or where they were from. I'm so glad I had a chance to tell him that he was one of the reasons that I, too, became a Teacher

I told Mr. Ronnie a few years ago that he and his brother were some of the best teachers that I've ever had. I became a teacher in large part to be an example to my students, the same way that Mr. Ronnie was such a great example to his. You will be missed, Mr. Ronnie, but your memory will live on.
