Richard Alan Warfield, 62, of Lanark, Illinois, passed away at home Monday, January 19, 2026, after a long battle with cancer.

Born November 19, 1963, in Freeport, Illinois, Richard was the son of the late Roy and Ruby (Stone) Warfield Sr. of Shannon. He graduated from Shannon High School, class of 1982. During this time he met Kathi Orth. They married in 1983, and had a daughter, Tiffani, in 1984 in Germany.

Richard had enlisted in the United States Army. He served overseas in Germany with the 4th Battalion, 77th Field Artillery.

After his military career, Richard lived in Missouri and then Colorado. He then returned to Lanark and built a long and steady professional life at Elkay, where he served as an auditor and supervisor for more than 30 years beginning in 1988.

Richard liked watching the White Sox, Illinois Basketball, the Chicago Bears, and hanging out at Dave’s Place.

He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany (Colt) Bowers of Leaf River; his two grandsons Hudson and Carter Bowers; his mother, Ruby Warfield of Shannon; and his siblings Roy (Jackie) Warfield of Freeport, Darla (Keith) Martz of Shannon, Wade (Sarah) Warfield of Shannon; and his 2 nephews Robert and Steven Martz of Shannon, IL. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Warfield Sr.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held 12 - 4 pm March 15 at Dave’s place in Lanark.
