MASSENA – Raymond J. O'Neill, 96, passed away late Sunday evening, January 25, 2026 at St. Joseph's Home in Ogdensburg.
Ray was born on December 26, 1929 in Massena, the son of the late John and Mary (Crowley) O'Neill. He was raised in Massena, where he graduated from Massena High School. On October 25, 1958, he married Barbara Blair at the Church of the Sacred Heart. She predeceased him on March 17, 2008.
Ray first worked at Alcoa before being drafted into the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After returning home, he worked for a time at the Seaway before starting a career with Reynolds Metal, where he continued until his retirement in 1992. Ray was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and had a great love for golfing and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Ray is survived by his children, Timothy O'Neill of Massena, Karen (Joseph) Prashaw of Norfolk, and Steven (Winnie) O'Neill of Williamston, North Carolina; his daughter-in-law, Robyn O'Neill of Massena; his grandchildren, Meghan, Joshua, Zachary, Jon Paul, Ryan, and Trevor; his great grandchildren, Wesley, Nora, Evy, Liam, Dante, Jameson, Livy, Lola, Emmy, and Logan; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Ray was predeceased by 3 children, Julie Ann O'Neill on May 16, 1966, William Leonard O'Neill on August 5, 1983, and Kevin O'Neill on September 20, 2012; a grandson, Travis O'Neill on January 31, 2023; and his brothers, Charles, Jack, and Bernard O'Neill.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, however at his request there will be no services. Burial will be held privately in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Joseph's Home, 950 Linden Street, Ogdensburg, New York 13669.
