Penny Sue Sanner, 77, of Oil City, passed away on Saturday morning, January 24, 2026 at Oil City Healthcare, surrounded by family.
She was born in
Salyersville, Kentucky on March 24, 1948 to the late Warnie Burgett and Myrtle Delaney.
She attended Harding High School in Marion, Ohio.
Penny was a lifetime member of the Oil City V.F.W. Auxiliary.
She enjoyed bowling and participated in several travel tournaments. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting, and had a special heart for children, cats, and dogs.
Penny worked as a manager in the hardware department at Sears in the Cranberry Mall, retiring after more than twenty years of service. Following retirement, she provided cleaning services for numerous doctors in the Franklin and Oil City area.
She is survived by her husband, Billie O. Sanner, Sr.; four children: Robert Wilson and wife Valerie of Indiana, Pennsylvania, Shelley Haupt and husband Neil of Ludowici, Georgia, Lori Lockhart of Oil City, and Angel Weeter and husband Scott Daly of New Cumberland, West Virginia; and her grandchildren: Rebecca Griffith (Michael), Samuel Wilson (Alexis), Joseph Wilson (Sydney), Brad Haupt (Bailey), Kayla Sue Haupt (Derek), and Natalie Sylvester (Dylan), Randi Sue Miller, Shani Felix (Nick), Dakota Goodwill (Brandon), Billeanne Lockhart, Michael Weeter (Jackie), Brianna Sue Weeter, and Billie O. Sanner IV. Numerous great-grandchildren survive.
Also surviving is a sister, Cathy Rinaldi; and a brother, Clyde Spencer, both of Lima, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Penny is also survived by step-children (from the Marion, Ohio area), step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren; as well as her close friends, Beth Coleman and Ruth Biernesser.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Warnie and Myrtle; her step-father, John House; a son, Billie O. Sanner Jr.; her sisters, Bonnie Grigsby and Mary Alice Anderson; a brother, Johnny House; and two great-grandchildren, Jeremy P. Bruner and Emmett O. Weeter.
Private funeral services will be held for the immediate family. Private interment will be made in the Fertigs Cemetery in Pinegrove Township, Venango County.
