NEWPORT NEWS, VA. - Patricia Ann Boswell Vinson, a cherished mother, and nanny, peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 24, 2026, in Williamsburg, Virginia. Born on March 29, 1943, in
Rome, Georgia, she was 82 years old at the time of her passing.
Patricia will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and her strong will that made her an anchor in the lives of those she touched. Enthusiastically devoted to Duke basketball, she held a special admiration for Coach K and delighted in watching the games. Patricia had a remarkable talent for crafting and painting, especially favoring Americana styles. Her ability to transform ordinary materials into items of beauty was admired by all who knew her. Patricia's warmth, creativity, and tenacity will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She has gone to be with our Lord Jesus Christ, reuniting with loved ones who preceded her, and leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.
Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Oliver Vinson of
Murfreesboro, NC, and her cherished son, John Travis Crockett.
She is survived by her beloved daughters, Melinda Hodges (Cliff) of
Mims, FL, and Dawn Urdiales (Anthony) of
Black Hawk, CO; as well as her treasured granddaughters Anna Dismuke (Reid) of
Williamsburg, VA, Hannah Ray (Andrew) of Salem, Va., Haleigh Bodeau (John) of
Plymouth, MN, Allison Bonday of
Longmont, CO, and Marissa Bonday of
Fort Collins, CO. Patricia's legacy also includes her adored great-grandchildren Zahara, Liam, Genevieve, Jolene, Isabella, Augustus, Alice, William, and Harrison. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Peggy Vinson Francis of
Murfreesboro, NC, and Linda Vinson of West Virginia.
Services celebrating Patricia's life will be conducted on Friday, January 30, 2026. Family and friends are invited to gather at Meherrin Baptist Church in
Murfreesboro, NC, with visitation commencing at 1:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 PM officiated by Pastor John Porter. A private family burial will take place in the church cemetery.
