I was a student of Professor Kelly's at Loyola. He was kind and engaging -- everything a teacher should be. My deepest sympathy to you, his family, on your tragic loss -- and to all those whose lives he touched.

Dr. Kelly was instrumental in giving me the confidence and sound educational background needed to become the social worker and clinician I am today. His classes were fantastic, and he was as solid as they come. I became better for enrolling in his classes. Sending his family and friends my love and support.

My prayers and thoughts are with the family. I learned so much from Dr. Kelly as a participate in the various programs at Loyola. He encouraged me as a school social worker and as a person. He was humble and always ready to teach and learn from others. His energy was contagious and love for his work and people. He is a true light that will be missed.

As a great friend of his mom, Karen, I watched Michael's life and career soar. We laughed and sang at his and Lucy's wedding, we delighted when Ben was born with more hair than any of us had seen, we never got Freddy and Isaac straight but adore them both and got to see all these beautiful events through the loving eyes of Grandmama Karen. Micheal was such a star. His light is out but his memory and love lives on forever.

Mike was one of my School Social Work cohort leaders and was a dynamo. Loveable, smart, inspirational. I still use a phrase he said to help guide me in my work and in my life. I am gutted. My very sincere condolences to his family. His Social Work family loves him.
