Melvin (Mel) Leroy Daley
January 9, 1944 – September 2, 2025
Mel Daley, 81, devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Mel grew up discovering a love of music and adventure before moving west to earn his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of Washington. He spent his career in Washington and later retired in Colorado near the Rocky Mountains.
Mel was a man of determination who fulfilled many of his dreams-raising a family he adored, building custom homes, co-founding the successful business DMP (Daley-Morrow-Poblete), and nurturing lifelong friendships through his career, community involvement, and the many clubs and organizations he loved.
He had an adventurous spirit-flying airplanes, off-roading on dirt bikes and four-wheelers, cruising on his Harley-Davidsons or classic cars, and traveling cross-country in his RV. He found joy in exploring new scenery and embracing new experiences. When he wasn't chasing thrills, he enjoyed quieter pleasures-playing guitar, tinkering in his garage, or improving his game on the golf course. Above all, he had a generous heart, always willing to lend a helping hand.
Guided by his faith, Mel embraced each day with enthusiasm and passion, savoring every part of life's journey until he reached his destination in heaven.
Mel was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin (Bud) Steinblock and Opal Hood, and his stepfather, Clyde Daley. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of nearly 49 years, Cathy; his children Christine, Jesse, and Jodi; his grandsons Dylan, Stefan, Jaxon, and Jakob; his brother Dan; and many other extended family members who cherished him, leaving a legacy of love and unforgettable memories.
