Mary Juhnke Obituary

Mary P Juhnke (NEE Hovan) age 95, of Walton Hills died Friday, January 23, 2026 at Kensington of Aurora. She was born August 19, 1930, daughter of Joseph and Frances (nee Gioia) Hovan. Mary was very active in her faith and was an active member of the Cleveland Association of the Deaf and a member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church for the Deaf. Mary married in 1950 to the late Walter Juhnke, Sr. and as a result of that union they had six beautiful children. Mary was an Avon representative for many years and won many awards for top sales. Mary loved crosswords and word search. She was an avid cook and baker and collected owls.

Beloved wife of the late Walter Juhnke, Sr.; loving mother of Walter Juhnke, Jr, (Joan), Elaine Smolic (Allen), Wayne Juhnke (Alice Ireland), Diane Nerone (Joseph), Neil Juhnke (Gina) and Gary Juhnke (Rose); cherished grandmother of Jason Smolic, Rachel Cibella (David), Nicole Campolo (Matthew); Avra Schmitting (Shawn), Joseph Nerone, Jr. (Theresa), Hesper Juhnke (Drew Baumgartner), Nadia Juhnke, Dante Nerone, Alyssa Juhnke, Trevor Juhnke, Jessica Atkinson (Mike); dear great grandmother of 9. Cherished sister, JoAnn Crocoll.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband and brothers John Hovan and Don Hovan along with grandson Gregory Juhnke and great grandson Grayson Campolo.

Family and friends are welcome for visitation at St. John Funeral Home, 923 Broadway Ave, Bedford, OH 44146 on Saturday, January 31 from 10 A.M. – 12 P.M. with a funeral service at 12 P.M.
