Martha Angela Doisey Jennings was born on July 9, 1959 in Roanoke Rapids North Carolina and lived around the Roanoke Rapids and Jackson areas the majority of her life. She gained her wings early Friday morning, January 23, 2026 at ECU Health surrounded by her family.
She was greeted at the pearly gates by her mother and father, Chester Franklin Doisey and Flossy Teresa Bolton, along with her brothers, Ricky Wayne Doisey and Raymond Eugene Doisey.
She leaves behind a brother and sister; Bobbie Doisey of Roanoke Rapids and Teresa Stanley of West Virginia; 2 sons, Thomas Lee Cox of Weldon (Danyell Cox), Chester Wayne Cox of Woodland (Jessica Cox); a daughter, Teresa Cox Williams of Jackson (Joshua Jones); 2 stepsons, Roger Lee Cox of Jackson NC (Emini Cox) and Joseph Eric Cox of Jackson (Karla Cox); 13 grandchildren, Tiffany Cox, Katelyn Williams, Raven Davis, Nathan Williams (Samantha Jatko), Harley “Remy” Bess (Mitch Bess), Hailey Cox, Hunter Cox, Trinity Cox, Dylan Cox, Savannah Cox, Matthew Jones, Zeta Cox and Terra Cox; and 4 great grandchildren, Josi ’Lee Drew, Bryson Drew, Zamir Cherry and Raelynn Williams
Angela lived her days with a Pepsi in hand and a cigarette in her mouth. She enjoyed drama just as much as she enjoyed arguing. Her kids will remember her as “Ma Dukes” a strong-willed mother who raised them to be the best of themselves. Her grandkids will remember her welcoming arms and her Winnie the Pooh sweater. You never left her home without love and a full belly, a tradition that her family will continue to cherish.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 in the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Dennis Gregory Jr. officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
