   Marilyn Jane Crooks, 78, of Eddyville, IL passed away peacefully with her boys by her side on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at IU North Hospital in Carmel, IN. She was born on August 27, 1947 in Carmi, IL the daughter of Ira and Martha (Wilson) Ward. She married Dr. Gene Zenn on July 20, 2020 and they shared over 5 years of marriage together. She worked for Amex Coal Company and then she also worked as a beautician. Jane’s hobbies were cooking, horse-riding, and spending time with her grandkids.

   Jane is survived by her husband of 5 years, Dr. Gene Zenn of Glendale, IL; children, Tim (Veronica Lundy) Hale of Lenoir, NC and Bill (Brook) Crooks of Indiana; siblings, Wanda Douthitt and Bill (Donna) Ward; grandchildren, Austin Glen Hale, Hope Crooks, and Hayden Crooks; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, David “Moose” Ward and James “Jim” Ward, and brother-in-law, Darrell Douthitt.

   Graveside funeral services for Marilyn Jane Crooks, 78, of Eddyville, IL will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2026 at Bruce Chapel Cemetery in Carmi, IL. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. A celebration of life will also be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn’s memory to Carmi Compassion Center and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi at 609 W. Main St. Carmi, IL 62821, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
