On January 27 at 12:58a.m., the all-good God called our dear Jubilarian Sister M. Martin (Veronica) Reynolds
home into His eternal peace. She died strengthened through the Sacrament of the Sick and accompanied by the prayers of her co-Sisters in the Sisters' infirmary at St. Francis Convent in Alton, Illinois. She was born on September 28, 1951, in Wyandotte, Michigan, the eldest daughter of Daniel C. and Marilyn (Double) Reynolds, and entered the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George on July 2, 1970, On June 3,1973, she made her First Profession and on August 15, 1977, her Final Profession. With great joy and gratitude, she celebrated her Golden Jubilee on October 15, 2022.
Sister M. Martin graduated from St. Louis University in 1976 with a BA in Theology. She then, worked as a teacher at the former St. Patrick's School in Alton, and in teaching, healthcare, and domestic services at many convents around the country until her retirement in 2025. Her last position was in Pastoral Care in the Emergency Room of OSF St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton, providing supportive prayer and comfort to patients, families and Staff.
She is survived by her Religious Community, and by a sister, Karen Stackpoole of Flat Rock, Michigan, a brother Ronald (Elaine) Reynolds of Southgate, Michigan, and other extended family members.
A visitation will be held in the Chapel of St. Francis Convent, beginning at 3:00 pm on Friday February 6, followed by a 7:30 pm Wake Service. The Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 on Saturday, February 7, in the same chapel, followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Masses for the repose of her soul, or to The Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George.
