Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hippensteel Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 17, 2026.
Linda K. Butler, 88, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Aster Place. She was born on January 25, 1938.

Linda was a 1957 graduate of Dayton High School and spent several years working as a receptionist for a beauty salon. She was a member of the VFW and Moose. Linda found joy in life's simple pleasures and was an enthusiastic fan of Purdue basketball. She loved reading, vacations near the ocean, shopping, sparkly clothes, jewelry, fountain cokes, and a cold margarita. Linda dearly loved her family and friends.

On April 2, 1980, she married Robert Butler in Lafayette. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2019.

Linda is survived by her children, Deanna (Keith) Coopman (Lafayette), Gary (Jan) Ogden (Lafayette), Kurt (Angelica) Butler (South Carolina), and Bryan (Jessica) Butler (Florida); her sister, Mary (Roger) Riner; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind special friends, Wanda Dutton, Vikki Moelhman, Karen Lohmeyer, and Libby Fontaine.

In addition to her parents and husband, Linda was preceded in death by her daughters, Jodi Butler and Kelly Bingham, son, Kent Butler and brother, Bruce Foresman.

Visitation will take place at Hippensteel Funeral Home on Friday, March 20th from 10-11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11. Linda will then be laid to rest at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Linda's daughter, Deanna, would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses and aides at Aster Place, as well as hospice nurses Beth Day and Jaycee Butcher, for the care and compassion they provided during Linda's final months.

In lieu of flowers or donations, the family kindly asks that you spend more time with your loved ones and consider visiting a nursing home to brighten someone's day.
