Rachel Gloriadean Pennington, 76, of Bessemer City passed away on January 27, 2026, at Wendover Hospice House. She was born on May 27, 1949, in Cherokee County, South Carolina to the late William IV Pennington and Annie Mae McDonald Pennington.
She is preceded in death by her lifelong partner, Alberico Diflorio; brother, Namon Pennington; sister, Reba Rose; brother, Danny Pennington, sister, Margie Sorrells.
Rachel was of the Church of God faith. She loved taking care of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sisters. Rachel was a caretaker at heart, and she loved helping other people.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Carmela Broome of Bessemer City and Michelle Warren of Bessemer City; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara "Susie" Marquard and Elizabeth Kay Turner.
Rachel’s grave service will be 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Clingman Memorial Gardens, Blacksburg, South Carolina with Pastor Randy Richardson officiating.
The family will receive friends after the graveside service.
