Josefa de los Ángeles, "Pepa", Gutiérrez Volpe. Born in Laredo Tx. December 29,1948 residing in Boerne joined the love of her life Alberto Luis Volpe, Jr and her parents Feliciano and Amparo Gutierrez in heaven on January 15th, 2026. She is survived by her two children. Her son Marcos Volpe and her granddaughters Aviana and Audrina. Her daughter Andrea Volpe Hastings (Curtis) and her granddaughter Arabella. Pepa was the eternal student in life. Her first degree was received in San Antonio from the University of the Incarnate Word. Her second in Pharmacy, from the University of Houston. With her husband, she was able to travel the world and lived in Venezuela, England and Australia. She made lasting friendships wherever she went. No matter where she was, she would immerse herself in the culture and take on new hobbies. She enjoyed stained glass and painting, golf, she was an award-winning quilter, embroiderer and taking on stitching later in life. Any type of game, whether it be a word puzzle, scrabble, cards or many hours of backgammon she was always using her mind.

She was a devout Catholic praying the rosary daily. A strong woman of integrity and honesty. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law."- Galatians 5:22

"His lord said unto him, well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." - Matthew 25:23

She loved her family to no end and was generous with her friendships. She will be missed by all who were fortunate to know her. The family is grateful for the many prayers, love and support offered during this difficult time.

My god mother or "Tia Pepa" as I called her will be forever missed. A pillar of strength and light throughout my entire life since the day I was born. I will hold close to my heart our travel abroad across the pond, our adventures throughout London, and all the times she beat me and my mom at Scrabble and Words With Friends. Love and prayers to Andi and Marco along with all of Tia´s family and friends. I hope her and Tio are dancing in heaven together again. Love always Hinojosa - Miralles Family

There are numerous memories we shared. "To name just a few" working together, dining regularly at a favorite restaurant, devoting 3 years to quilt a Texas A&M throw and making pillows for my daughter´s high school drill team. She meant so much to me and I will cherish all my memories. All my love to the family.

Pepa was dear friend whom I met
In Venezuela while our husbands were
On a job together. She took me under her wing and helped me navigate through this new country. She made life fun and exciting. My husband Steve and I became very good friends with her and Al when we returned to the states in Houston and spend many nights with them. I will never forget my beautiful friend and her loving heart. Love and prayers to Andi and Marco

I knew Pepa for more than 60 years and will miss her so much. I hear her chuckle and see her beautiful face when I close my eyes. She shared parts of herself with the people she met. I feel fortunate to be one of those.
