Inara L. Hayes (nee Townsend)
Elyria - Inara L. Hayes (nee Townsend), 79, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at Ames Family Hospice House in
Westlake, OH surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Germany on May 1, 1946, she brought her spirit of adventure and zest for life to the United States at the tender age of six. Throughout her life, Inara held a notable reputation for her generosity and unwavering love. She was a beacon of support, always ready to lend a hand or a sympathetic ear. Inara had a thoughtful eye for unique and special gifts, often surprising friends and family with tokens of her affection that were as unique and special as she was.
Inara was an accomplished sales associate, with a career spanning many years in the industry. She had a particular affinity for jewelry stores, and eventually found her home at Levin Furniture, where she worked until her retirement in 2010. Inara's commitment to her work was only surpassed by her devotion to her family and friends. She was a regular at her Bunko Club, an avid scrapbooker, and a lover of shopping. Yet, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her children and grandchildren. Inara was a past member of Emmanuel Lutheran and was known for her supportive nature, always being there for those who needed her.
Inara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years in 2018, Wilbert L. Hayes; and parents, Don and Emilia Townsend.
Inara is survived by her son, Steve Hayes; daughter, Julie Hayes (Walt Godles III); grandchildren, Ashley Hayes (Michael Brigadier), Steven Hayes, Madison Klepek; great granddaughters, Emma and Everly Brigadier.
The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 11:00 AM until the Memorial Service at 12:30 PM.
