Henry A. Cota, a cherished member of the Peoria and Glendale communities, passed away at home on December 12, 2025, after a long illness that he faced with remarkable strength and dignity. Born in Glendale, Arizona on March 26, 1952, Henry lived a life filled with rich experiences and immeasurable love, leaving behind an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In his career, Henry was known for his tireless work ethic and dedication to his craft. He spent nearly five decades as a roofer and builder, proudly identifying as a member of the local Roofers Union. His journey in labor began as a child at Pueblo Publishing, and he subsequently contributed his skills well into his later years. Furthermore, Henry was associated with Don Sanderson Ford, adding to the tapestry of his professional life with passion and commitment.

An alumnus of Peoria High School, Henry furthered his education at Arizona State University and completed military training with the United States Army at Fort Benning, Georgia. As a proud Army veteran and a valued member of the American Legion, he demonstrated deep loyalty to his country—a reflection of the giving spirit that shaped his personality.

Henry was not just defined by his work; he was a man of diverse interests and boundless enthusiasm. He loved cooking and mastered the art of BBQing, often bringing family and friends together around a grill. His passion for building off-road vehicles showcased his ingenuity, while his earlier devotion to tennis and coaching baseball illustrated his commitment to fostering joy in the lives of young athletes. Moreover, his volunteer efforts in the Maricopa County Elections, the Elks and Eagles Lodge, and his active participation in the American Legion revealed a heart always inclined to serve the community and uplift those around him. Henry's vibrant spirit infused life’s moments with warmth, embodied by his love for the colors of the rainbow.

A lifelong resident of Peoria, Henry fostered many cherished relationships throughout his journey. He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Ester M. Cota, alongside beloved siblings Erica (Keith) Stephen and Kathy, as well as his children Wence Arevalo (Elsa), Wendy Arevalo, Matthew Everett Cota (Alicia), Regina A. Manice (Maurice), and Jenny Grace Arana (Abel). His legacy continues through his treasured grandchildren—Amarisa, Reece, Vince, Jordan, Taylor, Luenc, Ella, and Hunter—and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who admired and adored him.

Henry’s life was also shaped by those who preceded him. He was guided by the loving presence of his birth mother, Manuela "Nellie," as well as his brothers David and Ronnie Parker. He also held special memories of his adoptive parents Modesto C. Cota and Gabriela Graciela Apodaca - Cota.

The celebration of a remarkable life will take place on January 30, 2026, beginning with a Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Peoria at 10:00 AM. This heartfelt gathering will be followed by inurnment at Glendale Memorial Park Cemetery at 11:00 AM, culminating in a Celebration of Life at 7575 N 67th Ave, Glendale, starting at 1:00 PM, where all whose lives he touched can honor his memory and share their stories.

Henry A. Cota was a beacon of love and generosity, a man defined not only by his work but by the profound impact he made on his family and community. He will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will resonate in the hearts of all who had the profound joy of knowing him.
