Dorothy Karen Landry Wike (“Dottie”), age 70, of Inez, Texas, passed away at her home on January 22, 2026, after a battle with cancer.

Dottie was born in Port Arthur, Texas on January 30, 1955. She was a woman of creativity, determination, and strong character, known for her warm and friendly manner as well as her spirited personality.

Dottie earned two bachelor’s degrees in Fine Arts and Culinary Arts from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi. She maintained a lifelong interest in the arts and expressed her creativity through photography, crafting, sewing, and decoration. She enjoyed dancing throughout her life, started dancing ballet as a young girl and ballroom dancing in her adult life.

Dottie had a deep appreciation for cooking and took pride in preparing meals for family and friends. She especially enjoyed Creole cuisine, baking, and the practice of canning. Among her specialties, were jellies made from prickly pears, muscadine grapes, and other wild berries.

Dottie was a devoted worker and self-reliant, guided by a belief in doing things with her own hands. Whether crafting, sewing, cooking, or gathering vines from tall pine trees to form wreaths, she approached each task with purpose, creativity, and care. Her home reflected her artistic heart, filled with fabrics, decorations, and the gentle presence of ongoing creative work.

She also enjoyed spending time outdoors, where she found peace in nature. Dottie took pleasure in being near the water, observing red-tailed hawks, caring for hummingbirds, and later in life, feeding the deer near her home.

Dottie is survived by her husband, Stephen “Mike” Wike; her son, Benjamin Scott Wike from the Houston area; her sister, Emma Joe Landry Slott; and her brother, Forest Landry from the Golden Triangle Area.

Dorothy Karen Landry Wike (“Dottie”) will be remembered for her creativity, appreciation for nature, and enduring spirit. Her memory will remain with those who knew and loved her.
