Denise Hudson Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Denise Hudson, who gained her wings on January 25, 2025, at the age of 57 at her home in Verona, Missouri. Denise was born on November 27, 1967, at the Aurora Hospital to Dennis Lewis and Patricia Gilmartin.
Denise was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandma, and friend. She was known for being crafty and helpful, sarcastic, hardheaded and a fighter. She was a really good cook and could make just about any design or shape into a cake. She loved food, especially if it was ice cream with extra hot fudge. Denise was an EMT for many years with the Barry/Lawrence ambulance district. She was a nurse at Tyson Foods, and she was a cake decorator for Dairy Queen. Denise attended Monett, Pierce City and Verona schools.
Denise is survived by her husband, soul mate and best friend George; her two children, Johnathon Hudson and his wife, Shonda, of Aurora, Missouri and Tori Smith and her husband, Kendall, of Aurora, Missouri; three grandchildren, Iris Smith, Houston Smith and Titus Hudson; three sisters, Jami Lewis-Bergesch of Monett, Missouri, Kim Lewis-Probstfield of Ava, Missouri and Lisa Bryan of Jacksonville, Florida and her stepfather, Jeff Miller of Verona, Missouri.
Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Patricia Gilmartin and Dennis Lewis; her brother, Jackie Lewis; her maternal grandparents, Barbara, and Jack Gilmartin; paternal grandparents, Jay and Jerry Lewis and one nephew, Derrick Lewis.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with expenses.
