Carl Baushke Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Starks & Menchinger Chapel - Saint Joseph on Jan. 23, 2026.
Our storyteller and mentor, Carl Allen Baushke, age 71, passed away on January 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Carl was born on November 9, 1954, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Harold Jr. and Marilyn (Retzke) Baushke, who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Coloma High School.

On December 31, 1977, Carl married the love of his life, Cheri (Marshall), and together they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and family.

Carl was a devoted father to Brian (Kathy) Paar, Lori (Don) Pezzato, Angela (Brent) Hawks, Sarah (Thomas) Henderson, and Andrew Baushke. He was a proud grandfather to D.J. Pezzato, Rachel (Harrison) Frisbie, Rebecca Pezzato, Max Paar, Sophie Paar, Nathan Hawks, Madison Hawks, Libby Henderson, and Emma Henderson.

He is also survived by his siblings Edward Baushke, Susan (Mark) Brusveen, William (Patti) Baushke, Christopher Baushke, along with numerous neices, nephews and friends.

Carl devoted his days to hard work and his heart to loving deeply. If something was broken, he found a way to fix it; with effort, patience, and whatever was at hand, even a piece of cottonwood. His steady hands, open heart, and constant presence for his family are the legacy he leaves behind.

Cremation has taken place, and the family will hold a private memorial in accordance with his wishes. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel, St. Joseph. Those wishing to sign Carl's Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Fly high, Papa. We will hold down the fort.
