Mickey Lee Dunlap passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Benefis Healthcare with her son, Dean, and granddaughter, Jenny and husband Ryan, at her side. Mickey, recovering from an illness, experienced a life-ending stroke.
Born on April 2, 1940, at the Florence Crittenton Home in
Helena, Montana, Mickey spent her elementary school years in Jordan, Montana. Her family then moved to Lewistown where she graduated from high school creating lifelong friendships from both towns. Marrying Marvin Dunlap in 1958, they started a family in 1959 while living in Lewistown, Harlowton, and settling in Hobson to raise three boys.
Mickey dedicated her working career to the Central Montana Hospital from the early 70's spanning over four decades. A long-time member of the Central Montana Medical Center Auxiliary, (Pink Ladies), Mickey was a caregiver at heart, caring for her son, Douglas, after he was fully and functionally disabled out of the Navy in 1989 until his passing in May of 2025. Mickey, while applying for a passport to travel abroad in the 1980's, found that she had two social security numbers, being investigated for many years, before this issue was resolved.
Mickey was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Mae Sturtz; brother, Dale; sister, Sally; husband, Marvin; and sons, Daniel and Douglas. She is survived by her brothers, Butch and Jimmy Sturtz; sister, Gloria Taylor all of Lewistown and sister, Barbara (Bob) Sawyer of
Hurricane, UT; son, Dean (Kim) of Great Falls; grandson, Jace Dunlap of Great Falls and Madison Dunlap of
Phoenix, AZ; granddaughter, Jenny Wilson (Ryan) of Glendive; great-grandson, Austin Wilson (Techea and great-great-grandson, Kade) of Big Sandy; and great-granddaughter, Caitlyn of Glendive.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 215 5th Ave S.,
Lewistown, MT 59457, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, with a repast held immediately following at the Lewistown Council on Aging, 307 W. Watson St.,
Lewistown, MT 59457.
