Jerry Baker Obituary

Jerry Baker, beloved husband, avid golfer, and lifelong Ohio State Buckeye, passed away on January 20, 2026, at age 76 after a long battle with corticobasal degeneration, a rare neurodegenerative disease.
Born in Marysville, Ohio, Jerry earned degrees from The Ohio State University, Florida State University, and Pepperdine University. He enjoyed a distinguished career in healthcare information systems, serving as Chief Information Officer at Saint John's Hospital and Tenet (USC) Hospital, and later as a project manager with several consulting firms.
Jerry was known for his kindness, quiet strength, and wonderful sense of humor, especially on the golf course, where his witty one-liners became legendary among friends.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Dixie, whom he met at Ohio State, and by many dear friends who will miss him deeply. In support of medical research, Jerry donated his brain to the University of California, San Diego Department of Neurology.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Jerry was my first cousin, our mom's were sisters. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. I know he had a rough time the last few years. I have many childhood memories. We we're only a year apart, and all of us cousins attended the same schools growing up. I will always remember Jerry's great sense of humor and personality. My mom always got such a kick out of his Christmas cards to her cat, Harriet.
I'm sure he is having a wonderful reunion with his parents, Dave and Norma. RIP Jerry, hope to see you again some day!
