Richard Morlock Obituary

ROCK HALL - Richard Worrell Morlock of Rock Hall, beloved father and grandfather, died on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Lebanon VA Medical Center in Lebanon, Pa. He was 87.
Born July 19, 1930 in Philadelphia, he was the son of Emile Charles and Anna Regina Knapp Morlock. He graduated from Upper Darby High School, Class of 1948, and attended Temple University in 1952. He excelled in sports, playing varsity basketball for Temple starting in his freshman year. He also played on the tennis team. He graduated with a degree in physical education and following school, served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He served aboard the USS Norfolk and was honorably discharged in 1956. On June 11, 1955, he married Dorothy Rebecca Mooney who predeceased him in 2013, after 58 years of marriage.
He worked as a physical education teacher at Claymont, Del. High School and later at Burnett in Wilmington, Del. He coached wrestling for many years and was a lifeguard at the high school swimming pool.
In retirement, he volunteered at the Cliff's School House, the Upper Shore Mental Health and voter Registration. He was a deroted husband and father, who loved spending time with his grandchildren and living on the Eastern Shore. He was essentially a kind-hearted soul who loved animals and was always happy to lend someone a hand. He enjoyed people and continued to make friends up until his passing, always having a smile to share and an upbeat attitude.
He is survived by a daughter, Beth Brandenburg of Annville, Pa.; a son, Richard G. Morlock of Rock Hall; a sister, Marilouise Morlock of Rock Hall; and three grandchildren, Connor Brandenburg of Carlisle, Pa., Lauren Brandenburg of Annville, and Charles Morlock of Rock Hall.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Rock Hall.
