Tyra Crabtree Obituary

Age 49 of Joliet, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Born September 21, 1972 in Glasgow, Kentucky, Tyra is a daughter of Loretta (Goss) Crabtree of Wilmington, Illinois and the late Roger Lee Crabtree. She was a graduate of Argo High School, attended Governors State University and went on to earn her Masters Degree from Lewis University. Tyra was a gifted educator and worked as an instructor at the Joliet Alternative School for 20 years. She was extremely creative, enjoyed drawing and took pleasure in crocheting and reading. Tyra was a great ‘dog mom’ and cherished her niece and nephew.

Survivors include her mother, Loretta; one sister, Sara Pack of Braidwood; niece, Brooke Pack and nephew, Thomas “T.J.” Pack; several aunts and uncles in both Illinois and Virginia, and numerous cousins in Illinois, Virginia and Tennessee.

Tyra was preceded in death by her father, in 2008.

Green flameless cremation rites are being accorded.

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until time of memorial service 7:00 p.m.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Tyra’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
