Witold Pichik Obituary

Witold P. Pichik, age 87 of St. Charles, IL died December 23, 2009 at his home. He was born January 27, 1922 in Elgin, IL. In 1940 he graduated from St. Charles High School and during WWII he served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. After returning from the war, he married Elaine Stickling on August 16, 1947 in Elgin, IL. He was employed for over 59 years in the grocery business, retiring in 1990 as a manager of the Blue Goose Grocery Store in St. Charles after 35 years of service. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Charles, and served as head usher for over 25 years. He was a member and past commander of VFW Post 5036 in St. Charles and served as their Blood Bank Chairman from 1953-1963. From 1955-1963, her served as 5th Ward alderman in St. Charles, and was a member of the B.O.Y.S. Club. He is survived by wife, Elaine; son, David (Char) Pichik of St. Charles; two daughters, Kathy (Bill) Loewen of Batavia, IL and Susan (Gary) Sumner of Essex, IL; grandchildren, Stacey (Jake) Brolsma, Kyle (Kristen) Pichik and Stephanie Sumner and Brent Sumner; great-granddaughter, Madison Brolsma; two brothers, Pete (Mary) Pichik, John Pichik; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Charles, IL. Burial in North Cemetery, St. Charles. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Monday, December 28th at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main Street, St. Charles, IL 60174 (corner of Rt. 25 and Rt. 64).
