William McGowan Obituary

William B. McGowan born July 12, 1912 passed away June 15, 2008. Bill lived at the Meadows of Glen Ellyn for the past four years after living in LaGrange since 1957. He was employed by Swift and Company for 40 years and was the manager of Hammond Warehouse in Chicago. Bill loved life, bungy jumping and skydiving in his 80s. He had a strong spirit of gratitude and volunteered for over 15 years at the BR Ryall YMCA and the LaGrange Public Library. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in LaGrange. Married to Catherine McGowan (deceased) for 49 years, he is survived by his 5 children Catherine (McGowan) Grenfell (John), Marjory (McGowan) Clements (Don), Christine (McGowan) Ballenger (Bob), Deb (McGowan) Richardson (Dave), Bill McGowan (Sherie), Bill had seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange on July 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a favorite research charity of Bill's.
