Died: April 5, 2014; In Knoxville, TN

William (Bill) M. Ihde, age 90, joined his heavenly Father on April 5, 2014 in Knoxville, TN.

Beloved husband of Joanna (nee Morgan) for 69 years. Loving father of Sarah (James) Dore, Marthe (Michael) McLinden, and William (Jamie) Ihde. Proud grandfather of Gayle (Brian), Jason, David (Heidi), Daniel, William, Brian and Colin and great grandfather of Destiny, Sydney and Liam. Devoted brother of Betty (nee Ihde) Gartrell. Loved by seven nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Irene M. Ihde; and his brother, Stanley.

Born September 29, 1923 in Sapporo, Japan, Bill served proudly in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from MA Institute of Technology as an electrical engineer and lived and worked in LaGrange, IL until his retirement to TN in 1989. He was a life-long Shriner and Mason.

A memorial service will be held on June 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Good Samaritan Episcopal Church, 425 N. Cedar Bluff Road, Knoxville, TN 37923.

Instead of flowers, Bill's family has asked that donations in his memory be directed to the music fund at Good Samaritan or the Wounded Warrior Project support.woundedwarriorproject.org
