Warren Parent Obituary

Warren Parent, 85, born in Chicago September 3, 1922, the only son of Kenneth A. Parent and Eugenie C. Lasser. He grew up on the South Side, with the exception of a brief residency in Wheaton 1928-30. After graduating from Parker High School, Warren worked as a foreman in the steel mills until entering the Army Air Corps just after Pearl Harbor. After graduation from Officer Candidate School, Warren won his wings and ferried aircraft to the European Theater until VE Day. He married Janice Harsh February 4, 1945 in Dade County, Florida. After Demobilization with the rank of Captain, Warren and Janice returned to Chicago, where Warren began a life-long career in insurance sales and brokerage. In 1987, Warren retired from Carroon Black as a Vice President. In 1950, after the birth of their two sons, Kenneth and Kurt, Warren brought the family to Wheaton. Warren was active in the Wheaton Drama Club in the 1950's and 60's. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, enjoyed boating at his Florida residence, and traveled regularly and with enthusiasm. After Janice's death in April 1991, Warren married Rosemarie Cruger, who survives, as well as sons Kenneth (Ruth) and Kurt (Marla); grandchildren, Kenneth Scott, Kirsten Parent, Kelly Parent and Kevin Parent; great-grandson Kaden Story. He is also survived by Rosemarie's children, Harold Cruger, John (Kim) Cruger, Sara (John) Vasak, Peter Cruger and James (Marie) Cruger and her grandchildren, Matthew Cruger, Michael Vasak, Kathleen Cruger, Thomas Vasak, Jacob Cruger, Madeline Cruger, Leah Cruger, Jack Cruger and Deborah Cruger. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 31, from 4 to 8pm at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main in Wheaton. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 700, Pittsburgh, PA, 15235. Family and friends may sign a guest book at hulgrenfh.com. We are sorry for the loss that you have all experienced. Warren (Uncle Wa-Wa as we called him as children) will be sorely missed. They just don't make them like that anymore and he has and will continue to hold a place of high esteem in my life and memories
