Tom Gilman Obituary

Tom Gilman, age 75, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center and will be missed dearly. The loving husband, father, and grandfather moved to Sugar Mill Woods from Sugar Grove, IL in 1996. He thought he found paradise, but missed his girls still in IL. Born in Hammond, IN, Tom was a golf superintendent for many years. He moved to FL, but never really retired until becoming ill. He was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School in Hammond, IN and Purdue University with a degree in agronomy. Tom is survived by Meredith, his high school sweetheart and wife of 51 years; three daughters, Tracy Graham (Greg) of Elburn, IL; Jill Lillquist (Dean) of Oldsmar, FL; and Kelly Mrazek (Tim) of Aurora, IL; and six grandchildren: Mason and Austin Graham, Jessica and J.D. Lillquist, and Shelby and Monroe Mrazek. Tom was a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association and the West Citrus Elks. As a teenager he achieved designation of Eagle Scout. He loved hosting parties and making up elaborate costumes for Halloween. He was always up for a good joke. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 4:30 PM at Wilder Funeral Home, 4890 S. Suncoast Blvd., Homosassa, FL. Donations can be made to West Citrus Elks Club. Arrangements by Wilder Funeral Home. (352) 628-3344

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Tom was an awesome friend and "family" member. I know my Dad now has his best friend in a better place. Thank you Tom for all the support, laughter and good times we always had with you. Meredith and family - thank you for always sharing Tom with us.

Tom was a good, considerate, and congenial neighbor and friend. We will miss him and his smile and good humor greatly; however, he will always live in our hearts and memories. God bless. Armin and Harold Marvin
