Dad,
It's been nearly a year since you were taken from us and not one day has gone by that I don't think about you.
So much has happened over the last year, some good and some bad, but you probably already know that because your watching from above.
The pain that I feel in my heart from the loss of you will never go away. Dad, I LOVE YOU and MISS YOU with all of my heart.

The perfect man is gentle
Never cruel or mean
He has a beautiful smile
And keeps his face so clean.
The perfect man likes children
And will raise them by your side.
He will be a good father
As well as a good husband to his bride
The perfect man loves cooking
Cleaning and vacuuming too.
He'll do anything in his power
To show his love to you.
The perfect man is sweet,
Writing poetry from your name.
He's a best friend to your mother
And kisses away your pain.
He has never made you cry
Or hurt you in any way.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Dad, I think of the amazing strength
That you used to fight the disease
Always saying “I feel okay”
When really you were in need
In need of easing the pain
That you dealt with every day
Not wanting us to worry
Just saying “I’m okay”
Dad, I miss you dearly
Trying so hard not to cry
I’m trying to be strong
But, I keep asking why
Why he had to take you
On that rainy day in June
Summer was just around the corner
And the flowers were all in bloom
I know he has his reasons
That I just don’t understand
But, maybe when I meet you there
You can explain to me his plan
Until then I will think of you
Morning, noon and night
And just wait for my turn
On God’s eternal flight!
Love You Forever and Always
Your Daughter,
Jennifer

Uncle Charlie has always been my favorite uncle. Since I was a little girl, All those years ago. I don't have one bad memory of him. All I really remember are all the great times I've had over the 40 years I've known him. The last year and a half has meant the world to me because Me and Uncle Charlie bonded more than we ever had before. He will forever be in my heart and on my mind. So, it's not really good-bye....it's only till we meet again. I love you Uncle Charlie

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My Dad accomplished more in his life that most people can only dream about. He came to Chicago as a young man from Alabama to make a good life for himself and he did exactly that. Although there may have been a few bumps and hurdles along the way he always managed to provide for his family. Not only did he provide for his family, but he always seemed to have room in his heart and his home for others, so in my eyes he was a father to more than his own.
Dad was very proud of our accomplishments in life and it was through our accomplishments that he knew he did well. My dad has to be the strongest man I will ever know, with his unbelievable strength to fight the disease and his will to live.
Dad, I still can't believe that you are gone and you will be missed dearly, but I know that God has his reasons for taking you from us. So, please know that although this may be the end for you here, it is just the beginning of your eternal life and we will see each other again someday.
Love,
Jennifer
