Thomas McGivern Obituary

Thomas Edward McGivern
Thomas Edward McGivern, age 75, cherished husband of Janet Heiser McGivern; beloved father of Julie (Robert) Maddox, Matthew T. McGivern and Jennifer (Scott) Winters. Treasured grandpa of Elena Maddox, Malin, Matthew and Emilia McGivern and Ashley, Kaili, Scott, Zack, Samantha and Drake Winters. Dear son of the late Arthur and Mary Taylor McGivern; stepson of Mary Clifford McGivern. Fondest brother of Mollie (John) Carroll, Arthur (Anne) McGivern, Jane (Lester) Levine and Kathryn (John) Dorn; dearest brother-in-law of the late Jeanne (James) Schultz, Susan (Wesley) Sharp and Steven (Dana) Heiser. A favorite uncle to dozens.
Tom was an old-fashioned guy who put family above all else. His advice was valued by many over an impressive career as a financial advisor for 51 years, but also by friends and family on all matters from lawn maintenance to a good golf game. Tom enjoyed the Northwoods, treating people to a nice dinner and being the consummate problem solver. Tom was a warrior, who valiantly fought every obstacle to spend as much time with his family as he could, and we will be forever grateful.

For close to fifty years, Tom McGivern was our financial advisor and friend. A consummate professional, his integrity, acumen and skill preserved and grew our resources. A wise and thoughtful man, with exceptionally good character, Tom analyzed problems finding sensible solutions. He made life seem easy because his broad shoulders carried us through difficult times. I shall miss him terribly, as will so many others who were the beneficiaries of his kindness.
May Tom be blessed and may he rest in peace.

My condolences and prayers for the McGivern family. I pretty much was the McGiverns other son during my college years. I was lucky enough to hang out at their cabin with the whole family more times than I can count. Tom was nothing but wonderful to me when I was there. He would take us golfing, be ok with me wrecking his snowmobile, late night casino runs, etc and these are things that I will always cherish. He will be truly missed but I will always have the great memories he made happen for us college kids.
