I knew Scott for many years since the acquisition of JDE by Oracle. As a professional he was a very capable, fair-minded and no nonsense guy. He was very committed to performing his job under any and all circumstances.
Scott will be missed.
Sincerely,

I was very sorry to hear about Scott's passing. As I read and learn more about the "Gladiator" and his 10 year battle with Melanoma, I feel even sadder for his loving wife, children and extended family and friends. Scott and I were business colleagues and he was always a gentleman and a very good person to work with...everyone in my company who worked with Scott respected him and really enjoyed working with him. His courage in his battle against this horrible disease was truly amazing and inspiring. Scott and I always talked about going golfing together, but unfortunately we were never able to do it...I'm really sorry that never happened and sincerely hope that all the good memories of Scott will carry his family and friends and co-workers through these tough times.

There was never any illusion to Scooter - he put everything on the table in front of you with no sleight of hand. He was a devoted cheerleader to any of your talents. Scott made the tee times, dinner reservations and put together the camping trips because he was a natural born leader always in command. Hence his nickname "The Gladiator" once his fight in the ring began with cancer. Not only will I miss my dear friend's awesome sense of humor, but I will miss his counsel. Whenever I had a heartbreak, failure or worry during my friendship with him that began the day I met him as a freshman on our dorm floor at NIU in August 1982, Scott was there to cheer me up and restore my confidence. A true friend. I thank God for that fateful meeting and will never forget him as long as I live. I'll miss you buddy!

Only you & Kelli are allowed to call me this - your nickname for me:

Weebs

Always on full speed with a smile on his face. This is Scott Mitchell to me.
