SCOTT HARVEY Obituary

Scott Harvey

Scott Harvey, 51, of Berwyn, IL passed away on April 30 of pancreatic cancer. Scott is survived and mourned by his wife of 18 years Denise Harvey (née Percival), parents James and Judith Harvey of LaGrange, IL, brother David (Maria) Harvey with their sons Sean and Christopher of Naperville, IL, his honorary brother Leighton Shell (Sabine Krauss) of Berwyn, and many other family members, in-laws, and friends.

Scott graduated from Lyons Township High School in 1987. Self-described as an "irritable genius," those who knew him found him to be a loyal friend with a wry sense of humor. Scott was a tinkerer - building his own audio and computer systems from scratch. He was also a software programmer and volunteered his time writing programming language for open source software programs. While he loved being at home with his wife and dogs, he enjoyed cruising and traveling in general, having been to Scandanavia, Europe, Australia, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Scott loved music and audio books, and was a connoisseur of Scotch whiskey. Scott was a proud Chicagoan and loved every aspect of "his" city.

Scott's wife Denise and friends are planning a memorial tree and bench at Berwyn's Proksa Park near his home. A memorial celebration of his life will occur when social distancing restrictions are lifted.

Memorial donations may be made to Wellness House of Hinsdale (www.wellnesshouse.org) which helps people living with cancer in the Chicagoland area.
